Quality management in education and training

Swiss Safety Center certifies companies and educational institutions in the field of education and training in accordance with recognised standards.

More and more public and public schools at all levels, in-house and external training providers, technical colleges and universities, as well as education and training centres are gaining decisive advantages with certification: they are at one with the requirements of the market and exceed the expectations of their customers. Your employees continuously develop their skills for the benefit of the entire institution. Effective evaluation and feedback systems promote continuous improvement.

If you want the most effective system for monitoring, controlling and developing training quality, choose Swiss Safety Center as your partner for audits and certifications.

The Swiss Safety Center auditors are industry professionals: education specialists who know and live schools inside and out, audit and certify according to ISO 9001, ISO 21001, eduQua, Q2E, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and other standards.

ISO 9001 - Quality management

Because ISO 9001 defines product realisation as all processes for the provision of the service and provides the necessary structures and process understanding, many educational institutions prefer the freedom offered by the standard. The process-orientation of ISO 9001, the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle and the eight management principles strengthen every educational institution on the path to continuous improvement.

The design of the core process of teaching is developed and implemented based on the educational level, the characteristics of the institution and specific market requirements.
Labels such as Q2E, eduQua and ISO 14001 are enriching additions to quality development, depending on the educational level and programme.

eduQua - the certificate for further education institutions

Based on the Swiss Education Study 2008, those interested in continuing education are demanding programmes that meet the eduQua criteria: They are looking for accredited courses and seminars, concrete proof of quality, practical relevance of the courses, recognition of titles and qualifications, transparency and binding nature of the programme content.

With eduQua, schools, institutes, academies and further education providers in the leisure and hobby sector commit themselves to the systematisation of quality assurance and development vis-à-vis their customers, providers, employees and the general public.

eduQua, the Swiss quality label for continuing education institutions, pursues three overarching goals:

  • Ensuring and promoting the quality of continuing education programmes on the basis of the eduQua criteria
  • Improving transparency for consumers
  • Creating a basis for official decisions (authorisation to offer collective and individual courses, subsidies, etc.).

The three eduQua documents

  1. Quality standard:
This document first presents the basics and principles of the current standard. Then the essential quality requirements and the required evidence for each of the 19 eduQua criteria are described.
  2. Certification procedure regulations:
This document describes the certification process and the procedure in detail. It also explains the various stakeholders, the certification process and the use of the label.
  3. Guidance:
This document contains specific information on understanding the criteria and provides practical assistance for controlling and implementing quality management.

Quality requirements and certification

The eduQua criteria and requirements provide clear guidelines and many suggestions on how further education providers can develop their own quality system. In a self-evaluation, they examine the status of the management system and the quality of the continuing education programme. In doing so, they recognise opportunities and possibilities for their internal development. In order for an institution to achieve eduQua certification, it must fulfil the minimum requirements of the criteria. These are described in detail in the document Quality standard eduQua:2021.

As part of the certification process, institutions receive feedback on the status of their own quality management and tips for further development. During certification, they compile a dossier on quality assurance and development in their own institution in line with the 19 eduQua criteria. The implementation and effectiveness of the quality system is checked in an on-site audit.

The certification is renewed every three years. In annual interim audits, the most important changes in the organisation and the range of services are reviewed. Certification supports the philosophy of continuous improvement. Quality should not be achieved by chance, but on an ongoing basis.

Certification

The certificate is valid for three years. The institution is certified with the eduQua label. The label may only be used in advertising and marketing in connection with the institution and not with the programmes offered.

The certificate can be combined with ISO 9001, 14001, Q2E and other standards where appropriate.
