Non-destructive Testing (NDT)

Non Destructive Testing (NDT) is a wide group of analysis techniques used in science and technology industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component or system without causing any damage during the inspection.

Highly skilled personnel allows Swiss Safety Center to perform non-destructive testing taking care about all the stages of the inspection process: from the project management until the evaluation of components quality. Swiss Safety Center is able supply a complete sets of services for both shop and field applications. Swiss Safety Center Personnel is qualified in multiple non-destructive testing methods according to ISO 9712 and SNT-TC-1A

In case of any ambiguity during a field service, additional analysis can be carried out at Swiss Safety Center laboratory to guarantee always the highest quality standards.

Swiss Safety center is able to support its customers with a full automatization of their non-destructive inspection processes using robotic arms and scanners populated with single or a set of transducers. Special software synchronizes the robot’s movement with the NDT signal acquisition.

The benefit of an automatic NDT inspection are:

  • Highly reproducible technique
  • High inspection productivity
  • Computer controlled data acquisition and storage
  • Possibility to have automatic defect detection
  • Possibility to have a 3D presentation of all flaws
  • Better ability to distinguish flaw signals from geometric signals

The know-how gained through years of experience allows Swiss Safety Center to implement standard and automatic NDT also as part of Condition Based Monitoring (CBM): a maintenance strategy that monitors the actual condition of the asset to decide what maintenance needs to be done.

Using permanently installed sensors it is possible to analyze changes in the performance of a component while it is in operation . providing objective data which can be used to predict remaining useful life of a component while in operation. CBM plays a vital role in both avoiding unplanned shut downs and in calculating the life expectancy of an overall plant. CBM enables Swiss safety Center to manage risks more effectively increasing reliability.

Swiss Safety Center personnel is ready to advise each customers with the most suitable non-destructive examination plan. Contact the Swiss Safety Center experts to discuss your inspection needs and to be supported in making the decisions you need to make for your business.
