Summary

IFS Food is a standard developed by IFS Management GmbH for the inspection of products and production processes to assess the ability of a food manufacturer to produce safe, authentic and high quality products in accordance with legal requirements and customer specifications.

Development

The current version IFS Food 8 has been mandatory since 1 January 2024.

The IFS Food Standard was developed in 2003 by the member companies of the German retail association HDE and the French retail association FCD as a safety standard for retailers' own brands. Since then, the standard has been revised approximately every three years.

Certification

Swiss Safety Center AG is accredited in Switzerland as a certification body for products, processes and services. We carry out audits and certifications according to IFS Food 8 for the product categories:

  • Meat, poultry and meat products
  • Grain products, cereals, industrial baked goods and pastries, confectionery, snacks
  • Combined products
